Courtney Hansen drives through the North American International Auto Show in Detroit with Paul Hemsworth of the George P. Johnson Co. and one of the designers responsible for the elaborate displays at the show. We also report on some marketing stunts that have made the NAIAS in Detroit the biggest and best car show in the business.

We’re on the road with Courtney Hansen and her copilot, Autoweek editor Natalie Neff, in a classic RV. We also make a road trip down the Midwest’s Highway 127 to visit the world’s biggest yard sale and do some roadside shopping. Plus, we wind our way down a concrete roller coaster on one of America’s curviest roads, the Tail of the Dragon. We also visit some other unique stops and roadside oddities on our unusual odyssey spanning the United States.

Jay Ward, keeper of the Cars movie franchise for Pixar Studios, takes Courtney Hansen for a ride in his Cadillac hot rod as they talk about the art of customization and how it has influenced his life and his work at the U.S. animation studio. And we see some of the most memorable customized cars of all time—cars that were made for the movies—at Memory Lane Museum just outside Chicago.

For those about to drive, we salute you with this special music edition of the show, featuring the passion and car knowledge of Brian Johnson, lead singer of rock group AC/DC. Courtney Hansen and Johnson get behind the wheel and talk about how music and the automobile go hand in hand. We catch up with Curt Catallo, owner of the original “Little Deuce Coupe” that inspired the Beach Boys’ classic hit. And we visit a singing cab driver in Chicago and a composer who makes music using car parts.
